I have lost count of the number of times I have read this particular book. Absolutely enchanting! The book is entirely in the epistolary style, a style to which normally I couldn’t care less. The events just don’t seem real enough to me that way. But this book changed all that. Its so refreshingly comic, absurd and plain entertaining. And it has two heroines, Kate and Cecilia. Both are absolutely strong characters (and that is one good reason for me to like a book!). Their reactions to the unfolding events, the way they believe that the men cannot do anything right without them (I agree) and the style of their letters. Brilliant! By the way, the heroes are great too. The mysterious Marquis is my personal favourite. And its only because of him that I am just a teeny bit prejudiced in Kate’s favour. Sorry Cecilia! The chocolate pot is really the hero of the story. But I won’t say more. Read the book to find out! Oh and did I mention that this book is the first in a trilogy? So, you are assured of getting to read TWO more great books once you are finished with this one. That is such a comfort, isn’t it?
